 | | ALBUM: Hellbilly Deluxe | | ARTIST: Rob ZOMBIE | | LABEL: Geffen | | YEAR: 1998 | BAND BIO Rob Zombie are: Rob Zombie(voc.), Blasko(bass), John Tempesta(drums), Mike Riggs(guit.) | REVIEW Rob Zombie, The Man, The Music, The Moviemaker, The Maniac. Hellbilly Deluxe is a Must Have for any serious fan of Hard Rock/Metal. This is Rob Zombies First Solo Album After fronting White Zombie for many years. Before you even place the cd in the cradle, Your mind is gonna be friggin blown out by the awesome Cover Art and Inlay art. But I found an even better Devil. Slouched in bean-bag I cranked the stereo to ear shattering level and as the eerie opening Horror sample started. I began to flip through the booklet Then CRACK I was steam trained by the opening track "Superbeast" this was to be the opening anthem for the journey into Hell I was being led into by Rob Zombie. 2 seconds to catch my breathe before track 3 "Dragula" totally took control of me. As pictures within the inlay book mesmerised me. Pictures of Zombies, Monsters and Ghouls. Quickly I realised this was more than a cd, This was a Musical Journey of the Mind Where Rob Zombie was creating a theatre of Terror, Horror and the best Fright Show i had heard. And I loved it. Track 4 "living Dead Girl" by this time only 3 songs in I remember thinking this Guy has not just created Awesome Music , He has created a product "Shock Rock", "Horror-Fi" what ever you wanted to call it. It was Unique Only a handfull of Artistscan be proud to say they can create this Sound, the likes of Alice Cooper, And in more modern times Wednesday13. "Demonoid Phenomenon" This track had me heading to call the Insane Asylum, Was I possessed or was this Rob Zombie bringing forth my true identity.Coz Fun Fun Fun is what I was having(I would just like to footnote I am mentally Sane and in no way did Rob Zombies Music or any metal artist for that fact ever make me want to go out and slay people. Rob Zombie and Metal Is escape for most people. Escape from the everyday shit and stress in life) ok Back to where I need to be..... "The Ballad of Resurrection Joe and Rosa Whore" This lyrically was a Master Piece and showed my Mind the best short movie I had seen in a long while. Now at the end of the journey Rob Zombie Goes Easy on me and lets me gain my Breathe with "Return of the Phantom Stranger" it is like a chorus of fallen angels singing there favourite Demonic Hymn. I found comfort. COMFORT!!! Comfort that only lasted a few minutes till I was about to retake this journey again, and have done so many times over the years. On a Serious Side If you have not had a listen to this Album ..Treat Yourself.. Its Music that Invites many emotions fear, terror, etc...In a nutshell every time you listen to Hellbilly Deluxe, It can be Halloween Any day.
